Our PPE Standards for Safe Drone Operations
We operate safely, professionally, and in full compliance with industry expectations. As a commercial drone operator working across diverse environments in Yorkshire and beyond, we adhere to strict safety standards and ensure our personnel are equipped with appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.

Our team regularly works on construction sites, industrial facilities, agricultural land, and public spaces — each presenting unique challenges*. By wearing the right PPE and following recognised procedures, we not only protect our operators but also uphold the highest standards of professional conduct on-site.
*Whether we are working under our own brand or on behalf of other drone companies or contractors, we always adhere to the same high standards of safety, PPE use, and risk management.
What PPE Do We Use?
Depending on the site type, access conditions, and risk assessment, we require the following PPE:
- High-Visibility Clothing
Essential for working around heavy equipment or in public spaces, our high-vis vests and jackets help ensure our presence is clearly seen by site workers, managers, and the general public. - Hard Hats
Worn on all active construction or industrial sites in compliance with Occupational Health and Safety. These protect against falling objects and show our adherence to site rules. - Steel-Toe Safety Boots
Footwear is rated to meet ISO standards, offering protection against crush injuries and slips, especially on uneven terrain or near plant equipment. - Protective Eyewear
Used on dusty, windy, or high-risk sites where foreign objects or particles could pose a hazard. Clear and tinted options are available depending on lighting conditions. - Hearing Protection
We may be required to carry ear defenders and ear plugs for use near noisy machinery, complying with Control of Noise at Work Regulations and ensuring our pilots maintain clear situational awareness. - Weather-Appropriate Outerwear
From waterproofs and windproofs to thermal gear and sun protection, our kit allows for comfortable and focused operations year-round — because fatigue and distraction are safety risks too.
Site Conditions & Risk Management
No two jobs are alike. That’s why we conduct a thorough site-specific risk assessment before every flight. We consider:
- Proximity to people, roads, buildings, and powerlines
- Weather conditions and wind speeds
- Ground conditions (muddy, wet, unstable, or restricted areas)
- Any site-specific health and safety requirements (e.g., induction, escorts, exclusion zones)
We always ensure our PPE and flight operations match the specific risks identified — whether it’s a rural farm, solar farm, or scaffolding-covered city centre building.
Our Safety Standards & Professional Compliance
We align our operations with standards and regulations where applicable. This means that safety isn’t just a box-tick — it’s built into our workflow, from pre-site planning to post-flight reporting.
In addition:
- All operators are trained and CAA-certified
- Equipment is regularly maintained and checked
- We hold £1M+ public liability insurance as standard
- RAMS (Risk Assessment & Method Statement) documentation where required
- We respect all local and national airspace regulations and drone laws
Why Our PPE & Safety Practices Matter
We understand that when you bring a drone team on-site, you expect professionalism, preparation, and respect for your working environment. Our approach to PPE and site safety helps reduce operational risk, ensures we meet your health & safety requirements, and reflects the high standard of service we aim to deliver on every project.
Whether we’re capturing thermal data on a factory roof or mapping a large rural estate, you can trust us to work safely, visibly, and responsibly.
