CAA Qualified Drone Operators

We take immense pride in the fact that our drone operators are Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) qualified. It’s a mark of our commitment to safety, professionalism, and compliance. We therefore adhere to the highest standards of aerial operation, ensuring that every flight is executed responsibly.

What is a commercial drone operator?

Basic and Mandatory:

  • You must register as an organisation and as a flyer (ID and registration requirements)
  • You must adhere to the flight category and its subcategories (only applies to the category you are qualified for)
  • You are legally required to have public liability insurance that is compliant with EC 785/2004
  • You’re responsible for safety whenever you fly:
    • Article 241 states – A person must not recklessly or negligently cause or permit an aircraft to endanger any person or property.
  • You must not fly above 400ft AGL
  • You must be able to keep the aircraft in direct sight:
    • see and avoid principle
  • Do not fly closer than within 50m from uninvolved people:
    • This is different for drones weighing under 250 grams
  • You can never fly above crowds
  • You must keep 150m away from industrial buildings:
    • unless your drone weighs less than 250 grams
  • Keep away from Flight Restriction Zones and associated types of airspace (airspace classes A-E)
  • You must respect byelaws
  • Keep away from SSSI
  • Check NOTAMs, airspace and weather information using appropriate sources.
